Do you like animation movies such as Finding Nemo, Monster Inc, and the latest one: Monster University? Have you ever wondered how these movies were made?
Those movies were made by Pixar Animation Studios, or simply Pixar, which is an American computer animation film studio based in Emeryville, California. The studio is best known for its animated feature films created with “Photo Realistic RenderMan” (A graphic programming tool), which is mainly used in generating high-quality images.
Do you also want to have a try? Below is the screenshot of the interface of a free educational 3D programming tool called Alice3. With Alice3 you can also create wonderful 3D videos, with a variety of figures and backgrounds. By simply adding movements to the figure joints (such as limb, spine, head, neck, eye, mouth ect.) the figures can be called to life, plus the control of the camera you can make a professional-looking 3D movie. Dubbing and adding music is also possible.

Information for parents:
1. Students will gain some basic object-oriented programming knowledge by using children friendly block-commands.
2. Students will have a basic understanding of simple algorithms such as loop and branch.
3. Basic knowledge of robotic (Transmission basic) will be introduced in the process of programming joint movements, such as rotation (about axel), turn (to direction) ect.
4. With the big library of realistic 3D backgrounds and categories of figures Alice3 is a real eye-catcher for children, alone setting up the scene may track a lot of attention of them. However we will try to lead the students to the programming so that they will not only just have fun but also learn something useful for their future.
5. Communication can be in English or German. The text in the command block is English, adopting the nature of programming language.
6. Individual and independent work will be encouraged in the beginning and team work will be done in the end.
7. Information about course contents and related programming and robotic knowledge will be published on Shuting’s website.
