1. The Wedo micro-controller is very compact and can be powered on directly from PC where as the NXT block is big and it requires battery.
2. LESS IS MORE! By building a simple model with Wedo set, beginners or young learners can see exactly how the geers engage to each other and how the motor rotation is transmitted to other rotations (including the perpendicular rotation) and linear movement of other parts.
After building a couple of models according to the building instructions, you can start design and build simple models (The reduced Wedo set is not as complicated and "scary" as Lego Mindstorm).
An 8 year old boy once told me Wedo set is too easy and it's for babies, but I think he can not convince me when he builds something with Wedo set without looking at a building guide in front of me :).
3. Programmable with Scratch. (Mindstorm can be programmed by Enchanting, a Scratch similar program)
4. Suitable for young children and girls. There are more colorful bricks in Wedo set and the constructions are mostly more lovely and friendly looking.
